What Is ARPwave?

A Different Approach to Neuromuscular Care

ARPwave NeuroTherapy uses a proprietary direct-current electrical waveform with clinician-guided movement to evaluate and retrain how muscles activate and coordinate.

Symptoms are not always explained by the location where discomfort is felt. Dr. Ford uses ARPwave as one part of a broader examination to explore movement patterns, compensation and the way your nervous system recruits muscles under load.

Electrodes are placed in selected areas and the intensity is adjusted to your tolerance. The current may be paired with active or passive movement, allowing treatment to address the demands of your injury, daily activities, training or sport.

ARPwave at DSPC is not a one-size-fits-all treatment.

It may be combined with chiropractic care, soft-tissue therapies, therapeutic exercise and movement education when those services are appropriate for your examination findings and goals.

The DSPC Process

How ARPwave Therapy Works

The process is adjusted to the individual rather than applied as a standard protocol to every patient.

01

Assess

Review your history, symptoms, movement demands and goals, then evaluate how your body moves and responds to load.

02

Activate

Apply targeted ARPwave stimulation while Dr. Ford guides appropriate active or passive movement.

03

Retrain

Practice more efficient neuromuscular patterns and progressively build mobility, control, strength or work capacity.

Who May Benefit?

Recovery, Movement and Performance Goals

ARPwave may be considered for athletes, active adults and other patients when it is appropriate for their condition and examination findings.

Sports Injuries

Support for movement retraining and progressive return to activity after appropriate evaluation.

Overuse Complaints

Explore activation and compensation patterns associated with repetitive training or work demands.

Mobility Limitations

Pair stimulation with guided movement when restricted motion affects everyday or athletic function.

Strength & Performance

Train muscle recruitment, control and capacity in relation to individual performance goals.

Post-Injury Recovery

Complement an appropriate rehabilitation plan after medical restrictions and healing status are considered.

Persistent Movement Problems

Assess broader neuromuscular patterns when symptoms repeatedly return with activity.

ARPwave is not appropriate for every person or every condition. Dr. Ford will screen for relevant precautions and determine whether it fits your care plan.

Understanding the Difference

ARPwave vs. Traditional TENS

Both use electrical stimulation, but they are generally used differently.

Traditional TENS

  • Often used passively for temporary symptom modulation
  • Commonly applied around the area where discomfort is felt
  • Frequently used without active movement
  • Typically designed for home or short-term symptomatic use

What to Expect

STEP 01

Talk & Examine

Discuss your history, current limitations, activities and desired outcome, followed by an appropriate physical and movement assessment.

STEP 02

Map the Pattern

If ARPwave is appropriate, Dr. Ford selects electrode positions and guided movements based on your presentation and response.

STEP 03

Build the Plan

Review findings and establish practical next steps, which may include ARPwave, chiropractic care, soft-tissue work or therapeutic exercise.

ARPwave Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

You will feel electrical stimulation and muscle activation under or between the electrodes. Intensity is adjusted to your tolerance and the purpose of the session. Tell Dr. Ford immediately if anything feels sharp, burning or otherwise concerning.
No. Although both involve electrical stimulation, ARPwave uses a proprietary direct-current waveform and is commonly paired with clinician-guided movement to assess and retrain neuromuscular patterns.
No. Athletes, active adults and other patients may be candidates when ARPwave is appropriate for their examination findings, movement needs and goals.
There is no universal number. Recommendations depend on your condition, examination, response to care, activity demands and goals. Dr. Ford will discuss the appropriate plan with you.
Yes. At DSPC, ARPwave may be integrated with chiropractic adjustments, soft-tissue therapies, therapeutic exercise and movement education when clinically appropriate.
That depends on the procedure, healing stage, restrictions and medical clearance. Post-surgical patients should provide relevant instructions from their surgeon or treating medical provider before beginning care.
